Hey guys. I just got the email about the new site and the little part in there about subscribing to Sherri's blog along with the chatacters. Well, each time I go to hit the 'subscribe to this blog' button a little box pops up asking me if I want to save this file or find a program to open it.

I am completely useless when it comes to this, so I have no idea if this is stuppoed to happen or if I am misisng some program on my computer that it needs to open it.

Anyone else having this happen?

Correct me if I'm wrong, Carl.

In order to subscribe to Sherri's or the Character's blogs, you will need an RSS reader. As I currently do use a reader, I'm unsure what folks who do not use a reader will see.

Okay, new internet knowledge. RSS/subscription is used by websites that want to let you know an update has been posted. In order for you to get a subscription, you need a reader for that notification to go to. You would think you could use an email address, but not. In the Reader utility, you would enter the subscription sites you are interested in. You would then go to your Reader utility to see which sites have updates. This is in lieu of visiting your websites everyday to see if there's something new or not. Clear as mud?

To find RSS Readers you can use that are free, use your favorite search site and enter "RSS Reader".

The reader I use is Google Reader. I subscribe (signed up/free) to this service. I use this to keep track of blog-type sites and even Twitterers that I'm interested in but do not follow. I also find it a great way to check on my friend's FB status when my work does not permit access to FB. This quickly tells me who has updated content so I don't have to go to each individual's site constantly to see if there are updates.

No, you can go to the Sherri's main page to read Sherri's Blog.

As for the Character Blog's, you would need to go to each character's page to find which one has an updated blog.

As Google Reader is on the internet, I do not need to download anything. I just need to sign into the Reader service and see which sites that I've subscribe to has updates. Some of the updates I read directly in Google Reader. Some of the sites only provide the first couple of lines and I just need to click on the link to go directly to the site to read the rest.

I don't know about other RSS Readers. I would guess that if you want to read the updates offline (not connected to the internet) it would require you to download software. Then it requires you to connect to the internet and let it do it's stuff (get the updates) and then disconnect. You would need to read about the RSS Reader you select to see what it can and cannot do.

I only know about the one I chose which requires me to be connected to the internet in order to use it.

Here's a sample of my Google Reader. Click to see a bigger picture

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j126/SKKMBBS/BBS/th_GoogleReader.jpg (http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j126/SKKMBBS/BBS/GoogleReader.jpg)

On the left, the highlighted labels tell me there is an update for my interested websites: Sherri's Blog, Paperback Writer Blog, and Sherri's Character Blogs. I've highlighted Sherri's Character Blog and the right side shows what the new ones are in bold.

I've expanded one of them to see more than the snippet that is showing. If I'm interested in reading it and the entire blog is not there, I click on the double blue arrows next to the title. It will bring me to the original place of the blog.

Another question. If I subscribe to the one character blog link that Carl posted, then it automatically subscribes to them all...correct??

It's happening to me too I click suscribe to blog and a box appears asking if a want to find or save, and I have google reader

what should pop up is a choice to either "add to google homepage" or "add to google reader" sicne you have google reader click that button.
