As I sit here at work listening to all the loud noises I think back to the great time I had this weekend at Dragon*con in Atl. So am writing a day by day diary for everyone to read
Friday August 29:
I get up at 6:30 to get the boys ready for school and drop them off and pick up my best friend and we are on our way. Rayne wrote "Dragon*con or bust" all over my van and I am getting honked at the whole way. Getting to Atlanta was pretty uneventful. We found the hotel ok and I parked at the parking garage and we find the registration line which we were in and out of in less than 30 minutes. The we immeatly go to find Sherri's booth where I already see some of the people from last year and it made me think of reuniting with old friends. Her booth looks awesome and I see this huge stack of books. About 5000 books are in a big circle in the floor and a sign that reads "free...take one" So I did. I also got my Acheron mug for dressing in my "Squirehood: what an indenture" shirt. So we decided to walk around for a bit and then go find the hotel.....what a joke...I got so lost in ATL that it took 30 minutes to find the road that lead to our hotel. Now granted it was supposed to be a 13 minute drive but stupid me had two backseat drivers...lol. So we find our hotel that had horrible reviews but we get there and it was pretty nice! we unpack and get settled and then head back for the con wher we walked around. We went to one of Sherri's panels where I meet Pam, Kim and Melissa who were funny as I don't know what. Sherri was great as usual. About 9pm, my friends wanted to go back to the hotel and rest where I begrudgingly agreed and still didn't go to bed until 12.
Saturday August 30:
We woke up at 5:30 am because I know how long it takes Rayne to get ready...lol. We get dressed and head for the con which was easier than the first time and we grab breakfast. Then we head for the parade meeting place which is in front of the spaceship waterfountain in back of the Marroit, where I get to shutterbug. I took a lot of pics and then we headed for the place where we would start the parade. We stand around when I get the bright idea to start staging pics...like me choking Artemis and Ash looking helpless and simi going after atremis with BBQ sauce.....lmao...that was funny. We march and march and it was HOT. I kept yelling "lets hear it for the sweaty people"...lol. We finished the parade and went to the Dh lunch. great times. Then we were gonna go to Sherri's signing which was only one of them only to find out that she was signing with 4 other authors and the line was HUGE....so we decided to just go and wait for her "reading" which she never reads and were met with the crew from the first panel she was on. We laughed for a while and then all crammed into the room which had about 100 seats and it was still standing room only. She was funny and everyone had a great time. We left and walked around where i got many more pics and then we got very tired. Well Rayne wanted to go to some Vampire party and Seplia and I were Tired beyond belief....so we go and sit in my van while we are waiting for Rayne. Little did we know between the exhaustion and the fumes from the parking garage, we got the giggles....so much so I was beginning to woder if secruity was gonna come and check on us...lmao. Rayne never went to that party and we ended up going back to the hotel around 12
Sunday August 30:
We sleep in a little bit and then head out for the con. We walked and walked and walked.....oh did I mention we walked?? upstairs, downstairs, escalators and all...meanwhile I am taking pics like crazy and we meet this hott guy who is dressed as a vampire and bites Rayne's neck and I of course got the pic. Later that evening they decided to get some drinks.....they had ONE apple Martini and got BUZZED!! I was laughing at them and took some blackmail pics...lol. Then we go outside where I am dared by lille and Heather to take a pic up Scott's kilt....so I did. and they got the picture....lol. I also got to meet a cool actor who was outside smoking and talking to him a bit where he proceeded to ask about "shelf boobies"...lamo....there were a lot of ladies that had corsets that gave them "shelf boobies" . I just laughed and he talked to me some more and we went our separate ways....he was soooooo cool. Then Lillie asks me if I would like to go to a Kilt blowing contest.....oh hell...why not.....so we waited until midnight for the festivities to begin and OMG!!!! I saw more ment in kilts than skirts....the rule is....if you wear anything under the kilt it is considered a skirt.....most of them were wearing kilts....wow!! Shortly after that we left and headed home
Monday Sept 1:
We wake up after staying up late packing and we wake up to overcast clouds after it being sunny all weekend. I was pretty ok with that. We headed back to the con and walked around and gave Sherri's assistant Otto her Wren Blade and then we headed to the Ghost Hunters Panel which had me laughing the whole time. We left that and headed around where I got something for the boys and went back to the booth where I gave hugs all around to everyone and exchanged e-mail addresses for picture purposes. We headed out of ATL when it started to rain which was okay by me and then Rayne and Seplia fell asleep on the way home and I was trying not to fall asleep...lmao..that was funny. We got back in Augusta About 5 and I saw the boys who were happy to see me and I was dead tired but happy to be home and I am already planning next year!!!
I am sure I forgot some stuff but I did this in a rush, so forgive my typos and leave me some love on the pics and blog
